Give CompTIA a Chance

The A + certification demonstrates competency as a computer technician. CompTIA A + certification is a vendor neutral certification. Requires two tests that must be passed: the 220-801 exam and 220-802 exam. CompTIA is a vendor neutral, but leans towards Microsoft operating systems, although some questions Apple and Android appear on the new exams.

Without beating the proverbial dead horse whose name begins with the letter "C", I would draw your attention to an area in which many AV integrators and professionals do not spend enough to get used to and deepen time: certifications. There are a handful of certifications available to us in the AV world, but what is beyond that? In the IT industry, there is a certification that you've probably never heard around every corner, stalking the alleys of the massive industry. But where do you start? How to embrace this industry without becoming overwhelmed with these dozens of tests and certifications to take?

IT certification cannot be mentioned without hearing the word "CompTIA." CompTIA released its first certification exam in 1993, under the name of A +. Since then, he has been one of the nonprofit organizations involved in the development of many other vendor-neutral testing and certification accredited by ANSI. I do not work for or represent CompTIA in any way, but their offerings are interesting, especially with regard to AV integrators interested in becoming well versed in IT. This post will provide a brief understanding of three of its most popular certification exams.

A+

Today, the A + is one of the most common input level certifications. It is the way many high level technicians get their foot in the industry. The exam covers a lot of maintenance, basic networking, hardware and operating system configurations. While A + certification wont revolutionize his career, is a curriculum and certification for large give you a basic understanding of IT, if you're not very familiar with the industry in general.

Network+

Recommended for those with an A + or nine months experience in networking, Network + certification is the next level of the scale of CompTIA. The study for this test may just need to recite the OSI 7 layer model in his sleep. This can also be considered a good milestone goal for integrators protocols involved in video conferencing, streaming and other AV network intensive projects. With good IT training, many individuals who make AV network on a network or IT work experience may want to consider starting here.

Security+

When it comes to professional networking security systems, ethical hacking harden, and conducting cyber forensic livelihood, security + is just an entry in the network security and the first certification in the way to a CISSP certification or any other level. For everyone else, this review and its objectives cover most of what we should know about network security as it usually will work with IT staff to get the device into their networks and hardening them as needed. CompTIA suggests at least two years of experience in IT management, specifically security, before taking this exam.

Regardless of how you embrace it, at least consider adding a certification or two to his resume. IT staff will appreciate the ability to speak their language, and the growth of confidence when it comes to worthwhile by itself. CompTIA is a good organization to look at, especially for entries in the industry, but there are several other vendor-neutral and vendor-specific options out there.
